About SPAR:

“The Sex Politics And Religon Hour: SPAR with Jamila Show” considers all the topics one was never supposed to raise in polite company.

About Jamila Bey

I’m Jamila Bey, and I’m a Washington, DC-based journalist and host of The Sex, Politics and Religion Hour: SPAR With Jamila.

I put myself through college as a reporter. I did a decade’s worth of hard labor at NPR as an editor and a producer for shows from Morning Edition and All Things Considered to the sadly canceled Talk of the Nation and Tell Me More with Michel Martin.

Radio is my love and my delight. And in 2014, this means that podcasting is my love and my delight!

I write for the Washington Post blog “She the People.” You’ve probably also read or viewed my insights in places like The New York Times, The New Humanist of London, Jazz Times, WebMD and the Today Show.

I can’t not write and say provocative and well researched stuff. Join me so that I can do more of that and bring it right to you.
